Work in Progress

Here's how my rabbit is coming along so far.  Above, you can see the body, arms and legs stuffed and in the process of being sewn on.
As if by magic, here is the rabbit assembled!  It is a fiddly design, but I am getting the hang of it.  At this stage, I would like to make one more rabbit, as I think the blue floral material left from my puffed sleeve dress would make lovely insides of ears and I have got some pretty blue flowery fabric which would make a perfect dress.  So this rabbit is the prototype and the next one will be much easier (I hope) as I can make a few adjustments as I go along.  I'm already thinking the next one should have knees!  Of course, after sewing the clothes, I may not want to make another one, but I do feel there should be two of them, so that they can keep each other company!
Next to make will be hat, pantaloons, dress and pinafore/apron.  Should be fun (?)

  1. Your rabbit is going to be delightful! Somehow I missed your post about the puff sleeve dress so have just caught up - what a lovely way to preserve a memento of the fabric and the childhood memories! It's amazing how powerful an impression such things leave. I am always surprised at how emotive it can be coming upon scraps of fabric of dresses etc my mother made for me when I was small and which I remember wearing and loving. Can't wait to see your rabbit complete with dress! E x

    1. Dear E
Thank you - I hope my rabbit will look good once she is clothed! Next time I am at Mum and Dad's, I'll have to see if I can find a photo of myself in the dress and post that. I have a feeling there may be one lurking in an album and I think I looked incredibly smug and pleased with myself (although perhaps that is a bit harsh and maybe I was just proud!)

  2. Those ears are so sweet. Fabric, for me is like aromas, it can immediately take me back to childhood.

Thank you - I am pleased with how the rabbit is coming along. Fabric is a wonderful memory-prompter, I agree.

Thank you - the material was a lucky find in Dunelm Mill and I thought it would work well!
