A perfect Spring Day

I know that it isn't yet Spring, but yesterday, I think anyone could be forgiven for believing it was here.  The bluest of blue skies (seen above through the silky buds of Magnolia 'Susan'), warm sunshine and a very light breeze all worked to ensure a beautiful day.
There are leaf buds just waiting to burst out on my blueberry plant, which seems to have come through the winter unscathed.
What could be more appropriate than primroses? A wild, native one in the front and a modern variation behind.
While visiting Mum and Dad, I went to the local garden centre and saw this lovely plant - primula 'Cheshire Life' which is a cross of wild primrose and wild cowslips.  I think I should be able to divide it into three with any luck, and dot it around the garden.  It really was a perfect Spring Day.

  1. I think we are all a bit anxious for the spring in this part of the world :) I keep checking my plants for flowers, leaf buds, etc., too.
I love the magnolia Susan - it's so beautiful! I wish I had enough space to put one in my garden.
That Cheshire Life looks beautiful - if you spread it across your garden it will look very cheerful and colourful, to be sure.

  2. Dear Aledys
Thank you for your comment. My Magnolia is in a big pot as I don't have acid soil in the garden and I repotted it last Spring. So far, it seems to be coping well. I do feed it and check the watering over the summer months. I would love to have more magnolias but unfortunately, my garden just isn't big enough.
Since the beautiful weather on Sunday, we have had fog and cloud and colder temperatures, so nature is reminding us not to get too excited just yet! Yesterday, the water companies issued a hosepipe ban in this area and in the east and south of the country too, which is unheard of at this time of the year!

  3. We used to have a magnolia in our old house and we loved it! On the ground, not in a pot. Now we have to content ourselves with admiring the neighbour's :)
It's the same here with the weather; it is indeed as if it was warning us not to get our spirits too high just yet! :) I just hope it improves later in the week, because we're going to Brussels for the weekend.

    A.
