There is a really good review from the Guardian newspaper which says everything I want to and more, so here is the link:
It is an affectionate homage to silent films and the stars of the time and is a must if you enjoy film history. The acting is absolutely pitch perfect throughout with a great ensemble cast too. I thought it was incredibly brave to make something this different and put it up against the blockbusters we are all used to now. I hope the Golden Globe awards are the first of many.
As for a star rating - it HAS to be 5 out of 5!

I haven't seen this film yet, but I've read and heard so many good things about it that I definitely have to make the time to go see it when it comes to my city.
ReplyDeleteI also recently learnt that Berenice Bejó, the supporting actress, is from Argentina, like me. I believe she has been nominated for an Oscar.
Dear Aledys
ReplyDeleteThis film is a wonderful cinematic experience where the audience really has to concentrate (so is very quiet!). The actors are all excellent and Berenice almost steals the film with her understated but very powerful performance. I hope she wins the Best Supporting Actress Oscar - she really deserves it.
Best wishes
Ellie
