Autumn sun

We have been so lucky yesterday and today as we have had sunshine and the bluest of blue skies.  The combination of Helianthus Lemon Queen against the blue sky never fails to lift my spirits.  This year in particular, the Helianthus has been fantastic.
I watched a plane leaving a vapour trail.
Magnolia Lilifolia Susan's yellowing leaves looked beautiful against the blue.  I don't think even a Mediterranean sky could beat ours today.
The butterflies, bees, wasps and other insects were also enjoying both the sunshine and the ivy flowers.  Ivy can be a thug and trying to keep it under control is a never-ending process, but it does have the benefit that insects love the flowers and birds love the berries.  I saw Red Admirals...
...and I was really pleased that this Comma butterfly stayed still long enough for me to take a photo.
The sky has lightened up now and clouds have interrupted the clear blue, but what a beautiful couple of mornings.

Hello to Lynne Mackay - welcome to Feltabulous.

Thank you for your comment. I hadn't seen any in my garden either, until the last couple of weeks with the ivy in flower and a bit of sunshine. It was lovely to see them this morning.

Thank you for your comment. The blue sky was fabulous and I am glad I made the most of it yesterday because today is dull, grey, cloudy and drizzling. What a contrast!

  3. We had the most amazing, crisp clear weather here too over the weekend. And I saw butterflies too, although they didn't stay still long enough for me to photograph them, but still lovely to see them flying around.

Thank you for your comment. It really was beautiful weather wasn't it? I'm glad I made use of it and got some washing done and some gardening too (as well as taking the photos). I am not sure how many more days like those we'll get now. Autumn is definitely here, but I like this time of year.

    1. Dear Annie
Thank you for your comment. I was very pleased with the way the photos turned out. It almost felt like summer too last weekend although that hasn't lasted now though, as the rain is beating down on the windows. It's times like these that I really appreciate a hot drink and a roaring fire. Bliss!
