As you know, I tend to keep politics and religion off my blog because they are so divisive. However, I felt I needed to speak out about the invasion of Ukraine even though I have been at a loss on how to talk about it. How one megalomaniac dictator can do what he has done (and think this is right) in 2022 is almost unbelievable.I wholeheartedly applaud and support the brave people in Ukraine, fighting for their freedom, their history and their culture.
It is hard to think of anything else Ellie. I will always wholeheartedly support people fighting for their freedom. I also feel for the mothers of the young Russian soldiers unknowingly thrust into hell. It is an impossible situation. Lulu xXx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lulu. I agree with you - it's not just the Ukrainian people who suffer - many Russian families will also be suffering too. There are no real winners in war.

I hear you Ellie, it is hard to know what to write. I too have not worked out what to write, if at all, as yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks, sustaianablemum. I am sure that people will have many views about the situation.

Were you aware that many countries have been moving troops and weapons all along the border with Russia in the Ukraine for a long time, this was a real threat to Russia. There is more to this war than just Putin causing trouble, we in the west are not blameless. When we went into Iraq nobody turned a hair. Unless you know the complete situation it's difficult to point a finger.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Briony. Yes, I am very much aware that the West is certainly not blameless in so many wars and conflicts.
DeleteHowever, I cannot think that the way Putin has done this is right.

I totally agree with you and many of the comments posted here! I certainly think making war on another country is never ever the way to go! IMO if a more insistent diplomatic approach had been used Putin may have stepped back and a compromise could have been found! I do feel that there are a multitude of interests involved from various countries that this horrible war should take place. My own thoughts about what is the underlying cause of this sickens me! I think we have to look along the lines of the Petrol/Fuel dwindling resources, the Nord Stream Gas Pipeline conflict and also the need of the big powers to recuperate their economy and growth. Needless to say my heart goes out to the Ukrainians and most particularly to the children; the impact this will have on the children who are the innocent ones and who suffer without knowing why! ReplyDeleteThanks, Amanda. As I keep reading in other places, there are no winners in war.
