Index-Card-A-Day challenge (ICAD) 2022 - Week 4

The ICAD challenge is speeding along nicely this year.  Above from top left there is: Pineapple; Purple; Print (a ghost print from a recent gel plate session - I always seem to like the ghost prints more than the actual prints!)
From top left: Portmanteau (I chose the section in Alice Through the Looking Glass where Humpty Dumpty is explaining what the words in Jabberwocky mean and uses the word 'portmanteau'); Poem which is The Way through the Woods by Rudyard Kipling.  This poem left a big impression on me when I first read it at school and I have featured it before on my blog. It is a bit melancholy, remembering times past and seeing nature taking hold again but also has a slightly mysterious feel. I love the rhythm of the words too, "You can hear the beat of a horse's feet, And the swish of a skirt in the dew".  At the bottom is: Plaid (using two dies cuts layered up) and Parachute.

Lots more to come - we are nearly half way through.

    1. Thanks, Andrea. It is an enjoyable challenge and manageable for me as it is small scale. I am also enjoying using some of my stash which is sometimes overlooked.

  2. How I love these. And hooray for featuring Rudyard Kipling's work. He is an author I was introduced to early and who has stayed with me.

    1. Thanks, EC. Rudyard Kipling's poem 'If' was voted the nation's favourite in the UK a few years ago. I prefer this one, or 'The Glory of the Garden'. I have some precious memories of my Granny reading the Just So stories to me (The Cat that Walked by Himself was my favourite) and the story of Rikki Tikki Tavi (and she did some lovely voices!)

    1. Thanks, sustainablemum. The parachute was made using an umbrella stamp without the handle. I think it has worked pretty well!

    1. Thanks, Lulu. The ghost print or clean up prints are often much more interesting than the original print that was planned. That's one of the things about the gel plate that I really like!
