The Auction of the 25 Barons took place yesterday and raised £167,000, which is an amazing amount, for The Trussell Trust charity. Three of the Barons went for over £10,000 each.
The 'Bomber Baron' (in the photo above) went for £11,000. The Steampunk Baron was sold for £5,000 and the Roman Soldier was sold for £7,000. The 'powers that be' are already thinking about what to do next... Follow that!

Must be so much fun to paint one if those guys :-)! Great that they raised such an amount of money, they did a good job those Barons. Have a lovely weekend, love from Mirjam.

Ellie that is amazing! I quite liked the Roman myself! Xx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dotty's Daughter. The poor Roman Baron did lose his red plume from his helmet at one time, but it was replaced, I'm pleased to say. They brightened the streets up no end.

What an amazing success. I wonder what will happen to the Barons, and whether they will continue to have a public face.
ReplyDeleteA Baron reunion down the track could be fun...
Thanks, EC. I know that the University of Lincoln bought their Graduate Baron, so I am sure he will be on display on their campus. Hull have just had a toad reunion, so who's to say that there won't be a Baron Reunion in the future?

What a great amount and for such a worthwhile cause too. I've seen these trails in various cities around the country, I don't think Leeds has had one, I wish they would.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jo. The Barons Trail has certainly brightened up the city this summer. They have also given visitors and residents a purpose as well as guiding them round the tourist area of the city.
