My friend had a birthday, so out came a card making kit and this card was duly created. I hope she liked it.
I have also been playing with my Brusho paints again, trying to create loose watercolour flowers. I watched a video on you tube and thought I could manage it, but as with so many things, it didn't quite work as I had hoped. I stamped the flower centres and then pulled the paint and water out to create the petals. This is what I was aiming for:

Hmm, I'm not quite there yet! Practise, practise, practise! The nice thing is a that practising something like this is a rather enjoyable occupation in itself. I may try different brushes to see if that might help.I embossed the stamens on some of the flowers and liked the raised texture it gave. I shall have another go and see what happens.
LOVE your work. Cards to become treasured mementos.
ReplyDeleteThanks, EC. The poppy stamp set has very quickly become a favourite. I shall try it with different colours and metallic inks and possibly embossed too. I think it will look good whatever I try! The flowers will be an ongoing project, but one that I will really enjoy (especially if I improve as I go).

The cards are so sweet. I love receiving cards in the mail - it can be a forgotten gift to someone.

Thanks, KimM. It is always nice to get something in the post which isn't a bill!

Even though they didn´t turn out as planned they are still lovely. You could always use them as gift tags too. xcx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chrissie. I think some judicious cutting (or die cutting) may help to improve this first attempt. Using them on gift tags is a great idea - thank you for that!

These are lovely. I know I "ought" to try making cards again, but I've rather lost my inspiration/desire. I've got so much stuff in my stash though...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Fat Dormouse. I can only have a go at things when I feel I want to - if I try and go against my feelings, the results are always disappointing. I have lots of craft stashes, but the good thing is they are always there when I feel like doing a project! I also jump between craft activities too, depending on time and inclination.

so pretty! i think you're very close with the brush flowers - is it just because yours are smaller and spread apart?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wendy. I have just got some brushes of the size used in the video, so hopefully these will give a better shape. The one I used was a bit too broad I think and the new ones go to a point. It could also be to do with all the different colours and the spacing, as you suggest. I shall have another go with my new brushes...
