In between the rain and winds currently outside, thanks to Storm Dennis this time, I noticed more exciting things in the garden. Above is my bargain camellia (I don't know the name, but it came from 'the range' - one of my favourite shops - a couple of years ago). I'm sure this is early, but very welcome.
My first little Tete a Tete daffodil in the border.
Another hellebore - I think this may be Picotee again. I do like the delicate green and pink shading on the petals.
Snowdrops in a pot (and needing to be divided again, I think, once they have finished flowering).
Storm Dennis has given us a lovely rainbow this afternoon though.
Yet again, we have been really lucky, which I am so thankful for.
I feel so sorry for those around the country where Dennis has wreaked havoc on houses and businesses - farmers being hit once again too with flooded land. I hope that there will be a respite soon.
Love your cheerful spring blooms. Garden catalogues have started arriving here, and I am sorely tempted.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you escaped the worst of Dennis the Menance and feel for those who did not.
Some world wide gentle weather is overdue.
Thanks, EC. I am itching to get on with my pruning and sorting out, but the weather is just not conducive at the moment. Still, these jobs will wait for me...
DeleteI agree, we all need more gentle weather.

Glad you have not suffered too much in this dreadful storm. More wind and rain seems to be forecast for the coming week 🙁
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jayne. These storms really have been out of the ordinary, haven't they? However, I think we are going to have to get used to them in the future. (Not that we can ever 'get used' to the devastation they cause.)
DeleteI really would like to get on with my jobs in the garden, but perhaps not this week!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Sandy. I know, I am ready for Spring too. I just happened to look out of the window yesterday afternoon and saw the rainbow.

Thanks, butterfly. We all need to focus on the good things at the moment, don't we?

You have such beautiful flowers in your garden. I love that camellia, I have tried to grow those but I think it is too cold here for them. I am glad to hear that you are safe after Storm Dennis, it is terrible the chaos and destruction it has caused across the country.
ReplyDeleteThanks, sustainablemum. My camellias are all in pots and this one is right up against the house, on a north facing wall. It seems to be doing OK there. Perhaps you could try one in a pot and then you could give it some winter protection in a shed, or bubblewrap the pot.
DeleteI can't believe how lucky we have been when you see all the dreadful news reports about Storm Dennis. So many people are facing a huge clean up, having lost everything.

Good news to you didn´t suffer to badly from the storm. Very pretty blooms, the hellebore is very delicate in its colouring. Love the snowdrops and you got a great photo of the rainbow xcx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chrissie. Water levels are high, but we have been really lucky so far. The garden is looking nearly Spring like - shame the weather isn't!

Happy to hear you were safe in the storm. Can't wait for my tete-a-tete daffs to bloom -- they are a favorite of mine. Your's are lovely. P x
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pam and welcome. The miserable but not that cold (so far) winter has encouraged flowers to bloom a bit earlier than usual I think. They are very much appreciated though, in these rather grey and dull days.
