Easter weekend

From temperatures around 20 degrees C earlier in the week, it feels as if we are back in Winter this weekend here in the UK.  However, the garden is coming to life and seems to be coping with the downward temperatures.  My standard cherry Kojo-no-mai is flowering well.  I treated myself to it last year, at the beginning of lockdown, but it had just finished flowering when I received it.   
A year on and it is looking lovely.
Some tulips in the border are starting to bloom too - i am not sure if this is Brown Sugar or Cairo!
A little self seeded purple primula is flowering  under the patio table.
More tulips.
Bright blue scillas.
The beautiful native primrose which has seeded itself at the base of a rose in a pot.
A violet which has seeded itself everywhere, but is welcome nonetheless (unless it is where I really don't want it to be).
Beautiful Lathyrus vernus which is a joy every year.  This one is in a pot and features on my blog every year, because it is always a delight to see it.

      Thanks, EC. I love Spring and early Summer - my favourite seasons. I am enjoying seeing the colour gradually arrive in the garden.

      Thanks, Amanda. Cairo and Brown Sugar are both described as perennial tulips, so I hope to enjoy them for a few more years in the border. I also have Ronaldo and Ballerina in pots, but they are only just starting to bud up.

    Is primula in the primerose family? It sorta looks like one to me. All your flowers are beautiful. Hope your weather warms up again quickly and looks like you had a lovely Easter Weekend.

      Thanks, Sandy. The primrose is in the Primula family. I call the vibrantly coloured plants, 'primulas' as often they don't have a specific name. The Primula family covers all sorts of plants, including primula vulgaris (primrose), auriculas and cowslips.
      it has been a bit colder this week, but the plants seem to be OK. I think our temperatures are due to be more Spring-like next week.

      Thanks, Amalia. Spring to early Summer is my favourite time of year, despite the unpredictability of the weather! Seeing all the Spring flowers really lifts the spirits.

    The primrose is one of my favourite spring flowers, so pretty. We're still getting snow flurries here, it was trying to snow when we got up this morning yet it's brilliant sunshine now. Snow is forecast again for tonight. I do wish the weather would make its mind up.

      Thanks, Jo. We have had rain, snow and hail here today. I haven't pruned my hydrangeas yet as I am waiting for the weather to improve, but it looks as though I may be waiting a week or so yet...
