Late Autumn in the garden

It has certainly turned more wintry this week and we have had a couple of frosts. The garden has reacted accordingly, with leaves falling quickly.  I took these photos last weekend, before it all changed. Above shows one of  the miscanthus grasses which changed to a buttery yellow.
The blueberries are taking on their fiery Autumn colours.
They are such good value plants.
Lysimachia Clethroides is also showing changes of leaf colour.
These little cyclamen in the shady corner bring me joy with their beautifully patterned silver and green leaves.
My Fatsia Japonica is trying to flower.  This flower is just starting to open...
..this one is much further along.
A bright splash of orange/red is provided by the pyracantha berries.
One of my little ginkgos has buttery yellow leaves now too.  I have put a standard ginkgo on my 'one day' wish list - they are such beautiful (and ancient) trees. I am trying to have something of interest in the garden every month of the year and I am slowly getting there...

  1. What beautiful captures from one of my favourite seasons. Thank you so much. A garden is always a work in progress (much like ourselves). I find garden work more rewarding though.

    1. Thanks, EC. It has been a beautiful autumn here in the UK with some lovely sunny days and a long time before the leaves fell. Yes, I agree, a garden is never finished and it never stays still either.

  2. Yep, everything's winding down... but it will all be back. That's the comforting part. ~Andrea xoxo

    1. Thanks, Andrea. There has been a slow and beautiful decline this Autumn. However, Spring is just round the corner and I agree, it's a comforting thought.
      Best wishes and Happy Thanksgiving.

  3. Hello Ellie, well you have certainly found late autumn joy in your garden with all those beautiful leaves and shiny berries. Your Micanthus is wonderful, as is the cyclamen. Fatsia Japonica's are funny plants, my folks have one in their garden. Here's to a chilly but wonderful week. Lulu x

    1. Thanks, Lulu. Given more space, I would have many, many more miscanthus grasses - so elegant and gorgeous. As it is, I have four and one definitely wants dividing in the Spring. The little cyclamen are doing a great job of brightening up that shady patio corner.
      Have a good week too

  4. Well then all these Autumn colours still make your garden sing Ellie! What caught my eye was the Fatsia Japonica a most unusual plant. I rather think I like it more when it is all cuddled up just before flowering as in the first photo. It is like a sculpture :-). keep well. Amanda x

    1. Thanks, Amanda. The garden looks a bit more bare now as we have had some strong winds which has blown the leaves away. I think the fatsia gives an exotic look to the garden, but it is a hardy plant. It does look sculptural - you are right!
