What a difference a day made

As we are heading towards the end of November, I went out yesterday morning to see what colour I could find in the garden.  Above is hydrangea Vanille Sundae - those oranges and reds were really singing out.
Another hydrangea, Merveille Sanguine.
Rose Dannahue is still trying to flower.
Salvia Cerro Potosi growing through Magnolia Susan.
Liriope Muscari still holding on to some flowers.
There were even two raspberries - I ate the one at the top a few moments after I took the photo!
Rhodanthemum Casablanca had one perfect flower.
One of the Nemesia Melody series was also still flowering.  Still lots to enjoy, I thought. Then last night, we had snow.  It hasn't snowed in November for quite a few years...
This morning when I went into the garden, the snow was melting, but everything looked bedraggled.
What a difference a day made! (Here's a link to the song sung by Dinah Washington, which has been in my head for a few days.)

  1. A huge difference. I hope that some at least of your valiant bloomers continue to flower. And as we head for a HOT weekend I envy your snow.

    1. Thanks, EC. I hope you and the garden and the wildlife cope with the expected heat. It is just above freezing here today.

  2. Raspberries in November that is quite something! Glad you ate one I don't supposed it would have lasted in the snow. We had snow forecast but none arrived it is really cold here but very dry so no snow. Hope your garden survives the chilly weather.

    1. Thanks, sustainablemum. I have had raspberries in December before, but I don't think there will be any more now! The snow is hanging on in those areas the sun doesn't get to. I had just finished insulating some pots, so was pleased I had done that, but no doubt there are more I should have got to!

  3. Oh no....you still had lovely flowers and then the white stuff. So sorry that happened. One day, wow...what a difference. Hope it melts quickly for you. But, I wonder if anything will come back?

    1. Thanks, Sandy. Being a gardener, I have that in built positivity 'there's always next year!'. Hopefully everything will be tough enough to cope, but if I lose any plants, it just gives me an opportunity to get something else!
