Easter in the garden - part two - tulips

I don't seem to have quite so many tulips as in other years in the borders, but this could be due to the very dry Spring we have had.  However, I do still have some to celebrate.  Above are Ballerina and Negrita in the border.
Here is Brown Sugar which I planted in a pot last autumn.
Here is Brown Sugar in the north facing border.
Ballerina again - this is a scented flower and such an elegant one.
Negrita in a pot plated last autumn.
Finally, this is a double from a mixed selection and the pot greets me at the front door.  I think there are some other colours in the mix, so shall wait to see what they are.
I think I need to have more tulips in pots next year!

  1. Wow, gorgeous. I didn't know any tulips has fragrance. I made a note of the purple Ballerina so I can check to see if it would do well in my area. My Daffodils weren't good last year, but bloomed really well this year. Perhaps because we had lots of rain? The trouble though with all the rain was it matted them down, that and the frost and all the wind, so they didn't bloom as long as they sometimes do.

    1. Thanks, Sandy. Just to let you know that the purple tulip is Negrita which doesn't have much (if any) scent. Ballerina is the lily flowered orange tulip and it is that one which has the lovely scent. Brown Sugar is also slightly scented. A few years ago we had a really cold Spring and the tulips weren't that good, so the weather does play a big part.

  2. I am wondering how many tulips we will have in Spring too. It was a long, hot and dry summer and we are still having warm days. Love your colourful selection.

    1. Thanks, EC. I definitely need to buy some more tulips this year. I would also like to have some up on the allotment too to give me a splash of colour.

    1. Thanks, Julie. I wasn't a fan of orange flowers until I saw orange tulips! I just love them now. I will be getting more (and hopefully some different but still vibrant kinds) this year...
      Happy planting!
