For those who
celebrate, may I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. My
photos are of some of the Christmas cards I made this year.
As seems to
have become traditional on my Christmas post; here is the quote from one
of my favourite Christmas carols, "It came upon the
midnight clear", written by Edmund Sears in 1849.
The world has suffered long;
Beneath the
angel-strain have rolled
Two thousand
years of wrong;
And man, at war
with man, hears not
The love song
which they bring;
O hush the
noise, ye men of strife,
And hear the
angels sing."
Again, this year, I wish the men
of strife would hush and there could be some peace in the world.
To end on a positive, I quote from Desiderata (a 1927 prose poem by Max Ehrmann):
"...And whatever your labours and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy."
May I wish you a happy, healthy and peaceful festive season.

Your cards are just beautiful Ellie - SO much detail in them & I love the water colours. Yes I agree .. peace in the world & the powers that be should all just hush !
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas & Happy New Year to you Ellie. ♥️🎄 x0x
Thanks, Julie. The watercolour backgrounds work so well for lots of different focal points - whether seasonal or not. I often use them for cards. Have a lovely (belated) Christmas and New Year too!

Your cards are wonderful, what a treat for your family and friends to receive one of those. It seems that peace is a long way off though we can all live in hope. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, sending good wishes for the rest of the festive period.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jo. I do enjoy making cards and will keep doing that for as long as I can! Yes, we can indeed all hope.
DeleteSending good wishes for the New Year to you and your family too.

Lovely Christmas Cards. Peace....At my age, I don't think I will ever see world peace. The world right now seems to be a hot mess. Sigh...maybe 2026 will be better. Happy New Years to you.

Thanks, Sandy. Yes, the world is not in a good state at the moment. We can only hope for better things in 2026.
DeleteHappy New Year to you too.

Beautiful cards and you made me to reflect on the powerful words of such a good hymn . It made me think that maybe sometimes I just sing along without listening to the words 🕊️ Happy and a Healthy New Year 2026 to you ! 💐🪷🕊️
ReplyDeleteThanks and welcome, Daisy Debs. I enjoy making cards and have lots of craft stash items to help me! Yes, sometimes the words of songs and hymns have a power all their own when we read rather than sing them. I hope 2026 is a good year for you too.
