Hellebore Ice and Roses is doing beautifully, with really tall stems and more upward facing flowers.
The unnamed double camellia which Mum gave me quite a while ago now is looking lovely too. I think this may be a camellia williamsii.
The flower colour is very zingy!
The cyclamen coum and snowdrop pot has been bringing colour to the shady patio.
While cardamine quinquefolia is lightening up the shady border. It does spread, but so far isn't trying for garden domination...yet.
The hellebores in the garden are flowering now but seem to be a little less prominent than they were. Perhaps they were affected by the heat and lack of rain during the last couple of summers.
These are Harvington speckled ones and you do need to lift the flowers up to see the patterns.
I think this one may be a self-seeder from the original but I am happy to leave it in the garden. It is a joy to welcome these lovely plants each year.

Your blooms arr beautiful, my camellia has not flowered yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Poppypatchwork. These two are a little more sheltered by the side of the kitchen, so that could be why they are further on. The one at the bottom of the garden is only just in bud. Camellias are lovely plants, aren't they?

Gosh your camellias are beautiful Ellie & I remember your hellebores from other years - you have such a fascinating variety.. I especially love the pot of cyclamen & snowdrops - just gorgeous. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julie. I do seem to be collecting hellebores a bit, but they are such lovely plants for some early colour. The camellias are also providing so much colour, which I am very grateful for. The delicacy of the snowdrops and cyclamen does contrast well with the blowsy camellias, but somehow works too.

Beautiful blooms. ❤️
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. I do love to welcome the flowers in each season. It has been such a wet winter so far, but nature keeps sending things to enjoy and I am so grateful for that.

Your spring garden is full of colour! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMine at the moment is full of tree surgeons - I have a huuuuuuge cherry tree that is swamping what little sunshine we get and it has been given the 'heave ho'
We have to get it done before nesting season is fully underway so the tree team have been doing a 'bird sweep' to check there are no nesting birds already around, if so, the tree will have to wait until autumn - hence the garden swarming with tree surgeons as they do their checks!
Thanks, kjsutcliffe. I love welcoming the flowering plants for the changing seasons. I am sure your garden will benefit from the extra light. I hope all goes well.

It's unusual to see a hellebore with upward facing flowers, such a gorgeous colour too. I'd definitely like more hellebores in my garden, they're so lovely at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jo. Hellebores are one of my favourites for this time of year. The Ice and Roses one is quite unusual, being so tall and with the more upward facing flowers. It also seem to have a long flowering time too. I keep saying I mustn't buy any more, but then I see another one...
