...and flowers inside

I was in town last Saturday and there was a market in the square.  I noticed a nice plant and flower stall and treated myself to some pink chrysanthemums (to me, chrysanthemums always have such an 'autumn' scent) and a little fern.  I popped the chrysanthemums in a vase once I got home and then Chris came back from the allotments with some beautiful jewel-toned dahlias from a fellow allotmenteer (thank you so much).  I ended up with a lovely display of autumn flowers.
Here are my pretty pink chrysanthemums...
...and here are the beautiful dahlias.
The colours are so sumptuous, aren't they? Pinks, apricots, oranges and deep reds.  I keep thinking that I should perhaps grow some dahlias next year, maybe...

  2. My dahlias did well this year, which for me was an achievement, I used to grow them very successfully at work, a sunny aspect, well drained and warm walled garden. A complete opposite to my soggy clay shady garden - so I never attempted them. Til this year, in pots by the back wall of the kitchen and they just blossomed! So, going to try again next spring and increase the delight :)

    1. Thanks, kjsutcliffe. I would have to grow them in pots too, but I may have a go next year. I just love these rich colours.

  3. Those colours truly are gorgeous Ellie - you are right, they are certainly jewel tones. I find the dahlias & the chrysanthemums last quite a good length of time in a vase too. Have a lovely week Ellie. xx

    1. Thanks, Julie. The dahlias are just about done now, but the chrysanthemums are still going strong! I have just bought some more tulips - did I need them? No! Have I already ordered some before? Yes! Oh well!

  4. They're beautiful and the colours compliment each other so well, perfect autumn hues. Mick's uncle always used to bring me chrysanthemums from his allotment at this time of year, I've always found allotmenteers to be generous with what they grow.

    1. Thanks, Jo. Yes, in our experience, allotmenteers are very generous with sharing experience and produce and it's so lovely!
