Collages created from my photos using picmonkey
So far, 2015 has been a wonderful year for roses here in my garden. I have managed to squeeze twenty-two into my garden, adding to the collection over the years. There is a pale pink theme going on, but this wasn't a conscious decision - it was mainly about the scent. I have got one yellow rose and I have added some white and deeper pinky red this year, mainly in pots. Most of them are in flower now and I am really enjoying the colours and perfumes.Above top row from left to right: Gertrude Jekyll; Mary Rose: Cottage Rose
Middle row: Jacques Cartier; Ferdinand Pichard; Constance Spry
Bottom row: Chandos Beauty; Bright as a Button; Blush Noisette
Just a few more...
Clockwise top left to right: New Dawn; Diamond; Rosa Gallica Versicolor (Rosa Mundi); Frilly Cuff.
Diamond was my most recent purchase, just last week, and this is its first flower. It is a miniature rose with a slight scent but is covered in buds.
I do enjoy the garden when the roses bloom!
Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love roses too. And will be planting more. Somewhere.
They will all be scented though. A rose without a scent is incomplete for me.
Thanks, EC. I would love to grow more, but I really can't fit any more in. Some of my latest ones don't have a really strong scent, but they do have a slight fragrance. If I had a larger garden, there would be many more varieties...

Twentytwo!!! You did well Ellie!
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful to see them all together....
I would love some more roses too, Gertrude is doing really well this year!
Love, Mirjam.
Thanks, Mirjam. I hadn't realised I had quite so many until I counted them up. Gertrude is doing really well for me too and the scent wafts around the whole garden, which is lovely. I have picked some for the house too, so that the scent follows me.

Beautiful roses Ellie. Your garden must be a picture at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThanks, linny. The roses are looking absolutely beautiful at the moment. I keep deadheading them in the hope that more flowers will come...

Hi Ellie, thanks for your comment on my blog :) I didn't see the Autistic Gardener, I'll look out for that on catch up. Was the garden very orderly ?!! I think the slight unpredictability of gardening would do my sons head in lol

Thanks, Jill. You're welcome. The garden had several different areas and each team member was given an area to be responsible for. There were orderly parts and Alan Gardener, the designer did say how he liked straight lines.
