Lots to enjoy in the garden

With the sunny weather, the garden is blooming.  Tulips Ballerina and Brown Sugar above, in the border.
I'm not sure what this one is - it was part of a mix a few years ago, but has repeat flowered.
 The inside of Brown Sugar.
 A pot of Negrita.
It's not all about tulips though.  Here is a perennial Nemesia 'Confetti' which I have pretty much ignored but which flowers every year.
The scillas are coming to an end but that shade of blue is lovely.
This was another tulip from the mix, but has also come back.
Clematis Rosy Pagoda is still doing well.
The lilac and Magnolia 'Susan' look lovely against the blue sky.
This is Tulip Cairo which was a new one this year.
I received a patio apple from my sister for my birthday earlier in the year and it is flowering.
I planted a few tulip Danceline from last year in the border and several have reappeared.
A world away from the brightly coloured tulips is this little viola - 'Freckles' which is very well behaved and seems happy in a pot.  I have a purple viola which seeds itself everywhere and is a bit of a nuisance.
Finally for now, an astrantia which is also in a pot and in a very sheltered part of the garden.  I bought it last year at RHS Chatsworth I think and the flower should darken to burgundy red as it ages.

  1. It is such a vibrant and exciting time of the year isn't it? Am I right in thinking that you do daily garden explorations to see what has bloomed and what is about to?
Love that astrantia which is new to me. I can see I am going to have to investigate further...

    1. Thanks, EC. It's my favourite time of year. Yes, I have a walk round the garden very day (unless the weather is really horrible) to see what is happening. I think that Astrantia is Burgundy Manor, which is quite tall and a lovely deep red colour. I am very fond of astrantias as they last such a long time, have beautiful flowers and are good doers!

  2. Your garden is always such a delight 🙂. I would disagree with you about the purple violet - that’s a nuisance I would be quite happy to have to deal with. Want to swap the 👹*&!🤬%$*😱 ground elder and equisetum which constantly grows in from the untended garden next door.

    1. Thanks, Jayne. Thank you for the offer, but I don't think I'll swap! Ground elder and equisetum sound a pretty horrible combination. At least the viola is pretty and easy to pull out if I catch it young.
Best wishes and good luck with the ongoing battle

  3. So many lovely flowers in your garden, it must be a wonderful place to wander around at the moment. I do tulips and am looking forward to mine flowering, they are not quite there yet!

    1. Thanks, sustainablemum. I do like wandering round and seeing what is in flower (it's a small garden, so a walk round doesn't take long!) I still have some tulips in flower but my first ones have gone over now. They are so bright and cheerful, aren't they?

  4. Beautiful, each and everyone. I don't have much blooming right now. The bright yellow daffodils are done and I have a few white jonquils blooming, but the weather's been pretty hard on them. Next I should have some nice purple with those large double Iris, though in my cleaning things up last year, I dug a lot up, intending to move them. Then got a bad round of vertigo and never got them replanted. They molded and hubby tossed them out, so not sure how many I have left that will come up.

    1. Thanks, Sandy. I like irises very much but they don't like my garden and I think they need more space than I have. I hope you will have a lovely surprise when yours come up. I had planned to do lots of dividing and potting on, but at the moment, those plans are on hold until I can get out to get more compost. Hopefully the plants will be OK as long as I keep watering and feeding. That's a job for today...

    1. Thanks, Chrissie. i can't take that much credit as most of my plants are left to their own devices. The plants in pots get a bit more attention. It is lovely to be able to enjoy the garden, especially at the moment.

  6. How beautiful! There are not enough words to describe the colours and variety of plants, not to mention the talent that goes into your little haven. I do love the little table and chairs you set up, perfect to pause and have a cup of tea. I do hope the blue skies and warmth continue for you. It is very therapeutic to have an outdoor space to go to during this unusual time.

    1. Thanks, Maria. There are certainly some beautiful plants flowering at the moment. The table and chairs have been getting a lot of use recently and we have been so pleased to have them. The blue skies are still there which is lovely and we are so grateful to have our little space outside. You are so right, it is very therapeutic.
Hope all is well with you.
