Early May in the garden and buying some plants

I have one clump of English bluebells which have grown at the base of a potted box bush.
One of my camellias is in flower and looks beautiful.
I visited a local garden centre last weekend and just had a couple of things on my list - a salvia and some compost.  Well, you know what it is like - I came back with an osteospermum, a dianthus, lemon thyme...
...a nemesia...
...three ferns, a salvia, some compost, some grit and some slow release fertiliser!  It was lovely to have a trip out and indulge in some garden retail therapy (even if I spent more than I planned!)

  1. Garden centres are like that. I don't think I have ever walked away without spending more/buying more than I intended.
Love your selection - and hope they thrive.

    1. Thanks, EC. It was so nice to be able to get out and visit a garden centre again. I could have spent a lot more, so was reasonably sensible! I hope they thrive too.
      Have a good week

  2. Oh how beautiful, Ellie. I think it's written down in a law book somewhere that there is no limit on how much you spend at a garden center and that it's illegal to keep a tally. :-D Enjoy puttering in the dirt, my friend. ~Andrea xoxo

    1. Thanks, Andrea. During lockdown, I really appreciated my little garden, so I'm not going to worry too much about buying more plants! Puttering in the dirt is one of my favourite things to do!

  3. You have beautiful flowers, apparently quite the green thumb. Can you come play in the dirt with me, my yard needs some TLC from someone that knows what they're doing, and clearly you do!

    1. Thanks, Sandy. If you saw my garden, the overall picture isn't quite so pretty as the individual plants! However, it brings me joy and that's what matters. If I lived closer, I would certainly come and help. As for knowing what I'm doing, well, I am still learning...

    1. Thanks, sustainablemum. This is my favourite time of year and there are still the roses to come, so I think there will be many more photos...

  5. Gorgeous blooms. Your garden is bursting with beauty! I really enjoy Garden centres too but much more the UK ones. I like it when they have a cafe attached and you can sit down for a light lunch and chat about the gardens and purchases made. Enjoy! Amanda x

    1. Thanks, Amanda. I am lucky to have got so many beautiful plants. I enjoy going to garden centres/nurseries too - even if I usually spend more than I would like!

    1. Thanks, Lulu. I love ferns too and have a nice shady area on the patio where I hope they will be happy, once I have potted them on.
