Flowers and Fireworks

I have had a flower-filled few weeks recently and have been really enjoying the additional colour they bring.  Above was a 'Just Because' bunch of flowers from my lovely husband, "I thought they were your colours" - they were!
Then there was a bunch of dahlias to add to the display from a fellow allotmenteer.
Then there was a bunch of chrysanthemums from a different fellow allotmenteer.
Finally, a colleague at work gave me these roses and lilies as a 'thank you'. I have been so lucky!
Having discovered that my camera does have some settings for various things such as Fireworks, Portraits and Low light (see here for the post about it), I decided to have a go with the Firework setting.  After a slight problem of not remembering how to access the settings, I downloaded the manual and then found the setting.  The photos were better than previously, but as these were taken from a distance, they aren't all that great.
I obviously managed to move the camera when I was taking this one, but I rather like it. (I don't think professional photographers need to be worried though!)

  1. Gosh your flower bunches are just beautiful Ellie. How wonderful to have so much colour still despite it being autumn. Though I know the dahlias do flower on for quite a long while.
Your camera has captured those fireworks wonderfully. I have mixed feeling about fireworks - only due to the effect they have on animals (my three included). Our government is passing a law (hopefully) to restrict them to public displays only. Not that anyone will take much notice of this law I imagine. Have a lovely week Ellie - its Sunday here. xx

    1. Thanks, Julie. The allotmenteers are really generous and Chris does give them jam and chutney and other things that he makes, so it's lovely. It's all about sharing our bounty! We have had a very mild autumn so far but no doubt things will cool down.
I share your mixed feelings about fireworks. I wish they would only be sold for official public displays, not for personal use. We have a lot of people round here who love them, so until the sale of fireworks is restricted, we are stuck with them, at every celebration time. I feel so sorry for the animals.
Have a lovely week as well.
      Best wishes

  2. How lovely to have so much colour in the house at this time of year. Your flowers are beautiful. I love your firework photos, well done on getting those settings right. I use my phone over my cameras these days and I couldn't tell you how to adjust anything, I just point and press, haha.

    1. Thanks, Jo. Yes, I have been very lucky with all the flowers and they are still going, although some of the roses are going over now. I'm not sure I could remember how to find the settings without the camera manual though, but hopefully I will improve the more I use them.
      Best wishes
      Ellie
