I spent a while in the garden today and enjoyed seeing what is in flower. Watering does give an opportunity to look at the plants closely and I find it a meditative activity, although as I have a lot of pots, I have to stagger the watering schedule. I was also doing a bit of repotting. Above is Clematis Princess Kate.
Clematis Perle D'Azur is flowering now on the metal arch.
Various phloxes are flowering too and their honey scent is lovely. They seem to prefer a bit of shade.
Hydrangea Annabelle is flowering although she is not enjoying how dry things are.
Always a joy every year is Hibsicus Oiseau Bleu. Exotic-looking flowers, hardy and tough, this one always makes an appearance or two on my blog. I think this is quite an early appearance.
Clematis Arabella, scrambling through the border with her purply/lilac flowers.
I love your shades of blue garden, I also love to water, as you say, you are able check each plant. This prolonged dry spell is playing havoc, luckily I can still use the hose.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Poppypatchwork. I hadn't noticed but yes, it is very much shades of blue/purple at the moment. I use a watering can for my pots so it takes me a while, but I do enjoy it. We could do with some rain, couldn't we? While I don't want to wish the time away, I don't enjoy the summer, despite all the lovely flowers, so am looking forward to Autumn!

Your garden is looking beautiful Ellie - I remember your clematis's from past summers. No Annabelle Hydrangea will NOT be liking the dry heat you have been having. She is a thirsty lady!! Sorry I am late to comment but have been away briefly & am trying to catch up on blog reading. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julie. It is interesting to see the plants which are coping well with the heat and lack of rain. I will have to resort to watering Annabelle, I think (I will use the bottles with spikes to make sure the water isn't wasted).
