Higgledy Garden - seeds
I was looking at a blog I follow and found this lovely post about a seed grower from Cornwall whose business is called Higgledy Garden. Being of a naturally curious disposition, especially where anything about gardens is concerned, I went to explore. Of course, I was seduced by the beautiful annual plants Benjamin Ranyard grows and loved the way he wrote - he is so passionate about what he does. So, I ordered some annuals for next year. Two days later, they arrived, and with great excitement, I opened the envelope. Here's what arrived:
Gorgeous stamped seed packets and a handwritten note from Benjamin himself. He has also included some Dahlia seed free for me to try! So what did I buy? Here's what they should look like next year:
Nicotiana 'Lime Glow', Cerinthe, Tithonia 'Fiesta', Calendula 'Art Shades', Phacelia, Corncockle and the free Dahlias. (Mosaic made from photos from the Higgledy Garden website and using PicMonkey). I now need to buy some verbena bonariensis seeds and some Stipa Tenuissima seeds and then I am all set for next year. Can't wait! Incidentally, if you wanted to order any seeds from Higgledy Garden this weekend, you'll get some free Rudbeckia seeds. It is great to support a UK business and get some lovely things too and I haven't been asked to advertise, but I was impressed by the business and wanted to share my excitement!

Oh just look at what you can expect to spring forth in your garden in just a few months Ellie, how exciting to be awaiting such absolute pleasure!

DeleteI have nearly finished things for the swap too, but have a few little bits and pieces left to complete...
My Sunday stitching is coming along s..l..o..w..l..y. but, it is progressing, so that's the main thing. I'll be posting about it tomorrow (there's an incentive to do some more this evening!)

Thanks, Joy. I am unreasonably excited by these little packets - yes, I love the way they are presented, with the Art Nouveau influence - but also the thought that the contents may give me those gorgeous colours in my garden next year as well!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Anne. I am really hoping that the annuals will be successful. I grow annual cosmos, which are fantastic, and hope these will be just as easy to grow and just as successful. I will definitely post about my progress.

Your seeds look lovely - I love those old-fashioned printed brown paper packets and the name Higgledy Garden is just so appealing too! Looking forward to seeing what emerges in your garden from the seeds next Spring! E x

DeleteThank you. I liked the name and once I looked at the website, I was a lost person! I'm thinking that once the seeds are sown, I need to do something creative with the packets in some way - they are too nice to just put in the recycling bin!
