Stitching Sundays 30

Stitching Sundays 30 - how did that happen?  Over this last 30 weeks, I have achieved far more with embroidery, sewing, patchwork and making than I would have thought possible! The photo collage above shows a variety of projects I have completed, including decorations, bunting, embroidering a felt piece which I started three years ago and trying patchwork for the first time (collage created using picmonkey).  I am sure that without the added excitement of having something to share on a Sunday, I would not have achieved so much.
Having said all that, I have decided that I am not going to continue posting on every Stitching Sunday. This doesn't mean I am going to stop making, sewing, embroidering - far from it (especially as I have discovered a love of split stitch!) - but I shall be sharing my projects on an 'as and when they are progressing' basis.
I would love to attempt to make myself a skirt that actually fits; a simple A line, knee length or a little longer, perhaps in denim, so that is the next challenge I have set myself.  I am a beginner at clothes making so am hoping this won't be a project too far!  I would also like to mend a childhood knitted rabbit toy (Gonga), who needs sorting out and a new pair of felt shorts making, so there is something else I'll be doing too.
It has been great to join in and I hope to have many more projects to share in the future.

    1. Thanks, Mari. It has been a really good sew-a-long to be involved with and I shall definitely keep going. I have really enjoyed the freedom of Doodle Embroidery and I have lots of other projects in my head which I would like to do!
Best wishes and have a happy week.

  2. You've done so well Ellie, beautifully impressive projects, but I know there are times when things have to change a bit - we take stock and re-group, if you like! I have not been joining in every week, but then I am a bit of a free agent anyway and like to wander off and delve into different things as the mood takes me.
I think it's important too that we don't place over-high expectations or strict deadlines on ourselves, or some of the fun and enjoyment can dissipate somewhat.
All the very best with your skirt-making, I'm sure you'll do a great job, and with fixing up 'Gonga's' needs too, that's very important!!
I have really loved seeing your beautiful works of art and look forward to seeing many more in the near future.
Wishing you the very best as always, Joy xo

    1. Thanks, Joy. The Stitching Sunday deadlines really made me get on with my projects and I achieved so much, but as you say, it's time to take stock and re-group. I am a little nervous about the skirt (somehow it feels much more like 'proper' sewing) but I am going to have a go using calico to begin with so that I can make all the mistakes without sacrificing good quality material (well, that's the plan!). Gonga has been waiting so patiently to have some new trousers - it's only fair to get on with them too!
I will definitely keep posting about my sewing/embroidery projects.
Have a lovely rest of the week.

    1. Thanks, Mirjam. It seemed a good time to take stock and celebrate what I have been able to create. I'll definitely keep going!
Enjoy the rest of the week.

  4. Well done Ellie! I am amazed at your creative, beautiful projects, thank you so much for taking part! I'm with you on easing up, though - I'm sure you noticed my hosting posts have been fewer and far between lately, life has just been taking me in different directions, and sometimes I end up stitching earlier in the week or not at all. So let's take the pressure off ourselves, but hopefully we'll still share lovely embroidery! Chrissie xxx

    1. Thanks, Chrissie. Stitching Sundays has been so inspirational to be involved in and there is no doubt that I have completed far more with it than I would have done without. Thank you for providing the springboard which has launched me into embroidery and sewing with extra enthusiasm.

  5. Wow what amazing achievements Ellie, it is so lovely to be able to look back on it. Well done for persevering with it. Yes I would also like to make some clothes, but I never seem to get around to it. I know that Lazy Daisy Jones is doing a sew along to make a skirt, maybe worth checking it out. I will sadly be missing it as we are jetting off tomorrow. Have a lovely Easter sweetie and I hope that the Easter bunny is very kind to you. Much love xoxo

    1. Thanks, Hannapat. It gave me a real sense of achievement to see what I have made. I am hoping to be involved (though probably not on a Wednesday) with the skirt make-along - I have ordered the pattern, bought the zip and have some lovely denim just needing a wash. I am thinking that I had better make one in calico first, just to see how I get on.
Have a wonderful trip and enjoy every minute that you can. Happy Easter to you too.
