Colour now and for next year

One of my blueberries, 'Goldtraube' is putting on a wonderful show of colour which I am really enjoying.  It was a dark burgundy red a week or two ago and is gradually changing to this...
 ...fiery bright red...
...with yellow and orange. It is fantastic.
Colour for next year will be provided partly by these lovely Cosmos and californian poppies.  Cosmos has done really well for me over the last few years, so I have ordered more varieties for next year.  The packets at the back of the photo didn't have pictures, so the pictures below are from Mr Fothergill's website.
Cosmos cosimo red purple white and...
...Cosmos Tetra Versailles mixed.  I hope these new-to-me varieties will do well next year.

  1. I've only ever bought cosmos as plants but have always been impressed by their longevity. This year I'm trying a white one from seed - fingers crossed! Jane x

    1. Thanks, Jane. I have grown cosmos from seed for the last three years, just on the windowsill and then hardened off in May/June and shoved in pots! I hope you have a huge success growing them from seed.

  2. What a beautiful color it is. The leaves of our blueberry trees usually change their color in December.

    1. Thanks, Poirot. The blueberry colour seems to be especially dramatic this year - it's been a good autumn for foliage colour around the UK. I hope you will enjoy some good colour in Japan too.

  5. I love the delicate look of Cosmos, even thought they are really quite hardy. Sadly in my little garden there isn't much room for lots of flowers, that's where I miss my allotments.
Thanks for the comment on the little Yorkie dog, I was quite pleased with him, but you know what it's like, nothing you make yourself is ever perfect. lol

    1. Thanks, Briony. Mine are still flowering in the garden, although we have been lucky with the mild weather so far. I put mine in large pots - five to a large pot or two to a smaller tub as I found the snails and slugs got to them in the borders. They seem to be happy in pots too.
Your little Yorkie was really sweet. We always keep striving for perfection though, don't we?!
