My first fruit harvest this year

I am very excited.  My first fruit harvest of the year from my single blueberry bush (Goldtraube).  OK, so there isn't all that much fruit, probably about a small handful, but enough to add to some little cakes, I think.  Baking at the weekend is definitely on the list of things to do.
Last week, there were only green berries but now, after some much needed sunshine, here they are in all their blue/black/purple glory.  There are more on the bush to come though, probably about the same amount again.  As this is one of the only edible things I grow (the others being mint and chives), it required some form of celebration.
Hoorah for the blueberry!

  2. Oh lovely! I love blueberries, but they are quite expensive. I keep the frozen ones in the freezer for smoothies and baking but nothing beats fresh from the bush! I look forward to hearing about what you bake! x

  3. Dear Gillian
Thank you for your comment. I have just posted about the cakes I made. If I had more space in my garden, I would definitely have more blueberries as the one I have got has proved to be very reliable, requiring only occasional watering and a bit of food as it is in a pot. As it hasn't got another plant nearby to pollinate it, I assume it must be self-fertile. It was a very good buy.
