My first polymer clay pendants

Well, here they are - my first ever attempt at polymer clay pendants.  I am really quite pleased with the way they have turned out.  I used bulls-eye canes, spiral canes and foil.  The cooking went well too and I didn't burn them, which was something I was a little concerned about.  I am sure that as I get more used to working with the clay and adept at making, I shall improve.  I really enjoyed the whole experience.  I am now waiting for my clay roller to arrive, which will make rolling out lovely thin pieces of clay a doddle to do.
I thought I should include the aftermath of my creativity - the remains of various canes, bits cut off, bits with foil, mixes of colours and three half-used blocks of clay (I haven't used the blue yet).  I'll post other photos of other projects as I embark on them.

  1. These are gorgeous! The colours are so vivid and you can definitely see the Klimt influence in the shapes and patterns you've created. I can just see them hung on a long, fine silver chain.

    1. Dear Gillian
Thank you for your comment. I shall have another try with similar colours and patterns and aim to improve, perhaps getting a smoother surface. For a first attempt, I was really pleased with how they turned out. I am looking forward to receiving my book on Klimt as I think the backgrounds will provide a lot of inspiration.

Thank you for your comment. I bought a DVD on basic techniques when I ordered the starter kit, so watched that first. It explained all about making canes and how to create beads and pendants, so was really helpful. One of the jewellery maker programmes featured a designer making pendants like these, and I took some notes while watching. I then referred back when I needed to. I need to practise with the clay and the foils and also aim for a smoother surface, but hopefully I'll get there. I did enjoy it!

  3. How lovely! I agree with Gillian, these would look fabulous on a long silver chain. Looking forward to seeing what's next! E x

    1. Dear E
Thank you for your comment. I can see that I need to invest in some silver chain! I have a lot of polymer clay in some lovely colours ordered, so hope to do lots more experimenting over the next few weeks...and more jewellery making and more felting - the list goes on and on.
      Best wishes
