My iris reticulata 'Painted Lady' and 'Harmony' are giving me a lot of joy as they are flowering despite the wet and cold weather. I have not had much luck with getting these plants to repeat flower, but this year, they have. It could be that they are happier in pots, so I shall pot them on into bigger pots after flowering and hope they will flower again next year.
Painted Lady has delicate colouring with cream, palest lilac and yellow.
Harmony is blue/purple with contrasting orange.
They have such beautiful markings inside the petals too.
Here they both are with some snowdrops - heralds of Spring indeed.
There's nothing more beautiful than new life... in flowers too. Spring isn't too far away. ~Andrea xoxo

Absolute heart lifting hope filled beauties. I do hope that they are indeed a sign that spring is on her way.
ReplyDeleteThanks, EC. Absolutely - I can see these little pots out of the kitchen window when I am washing up and they are bringing me a lot of joy (much like your roos!) In a month or so Spring will be here but in the meanwhile, I am celebrating every little positive step.

The colour of Harmony is beautiful. I think a dress in that shade would be fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThanks and welcome, JanF. I agree - it is a stunning colour and much appreciated at a rather dull time of year.

Thanks, Amalia. Since these little flowers started to bloom, we have had frosts overnight and snow during the day. Perhaps it isn't quite nearly Spring yet, but they are still flowering.

Beautiful flowers....this new life gives us hope. My orchid is sprouting little green leaves which is a delight to see. It lifts my spirts to see these tiny signs of life among such drabness and stress that we have to put up with nowadays. keep well Amanda x
ReplyDeleteThanks Amanda. Even through the recent cold snap, they are still flowering and making me smile.
DeleteKeep well too

I love iris reticulata but I've never got them to repeat flower either so I shall have to try them in a pot. I love the deeper coloured ones like Harmony.
