I have finished a couple of projects, as the title of the post might suggest (!) and here they are. The pompom wreath is such a happy looking thing and I am so pleased with the way it has turned out. I wrapped the wire frame with wool and have tied the pompoms on with the wool from around their centres. They can be removed/altered as the mood takes me, although they can stay as they are for now.
All those lovely bright colours make me smile.
This is the other project. It wasn't on my project list, but I ordered some sparkly ink pads and re-inkers and this storage caddy for them seemed like a good idea. It was plain mdf, but as I had a tester pot of duck egg emulsion left from painting my card index unit and paper storage shelves, I had to use it. I cut some rather lovely oriental inspired papers to decorate it and also varnished it too. It has a slightly distressed look to it which I like.
Here it is with the lid off and the storage compartments for the ink pads and re-inker bottles. I am planning to have a go with my alcohol inks and lift off ink next, so I hope I can create some rather nice backgrounds.
You clever girl, both projects have come out beautifully and you're right, the wreath is so happy. I am always inspired by Lucy's seasonal wreaths at Attic 24 but I cannot crochet or knit so they're never going to happen! Occasionally I wonder if I could do a fabric version but I have never made the time to do more than think about it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jayne. I really like Lucy's wreaths too, but am not a crocheter or knitter either. I saw a pompom wreath in a shop and thought 'I could do that' so spent a good while during January making pompoms.
DeleteI have made a fabric wreath which had three tubes of material stuffed with toy stuffing and then plaited and a bow added. There's a photo of it on my Christmas Eve post from 2018, should you be curious!

omg, I love the pom pom wreath, I bet that took some time making those pom pom's. I haven't made a pom pom for years. Do you have a proper maker or use cardboard?

Thanks, Briony. It didn't take as long as I thought it might because I could make pompoms while watching TV, or during my lunchbreak at work, so the pile of them grew reasonably quickly. I used the Clover pompom makers, which are simple to use, although I did have to secure the wool by sewing through the middle of each pompom as I find the makers left the middles rather loose and the wool could pull out.
DeleteI do have a few pompoms left over so am thinking that perhaps I need a garland now! (Making pompoms is quite addictive...)

Love the pom poms, so bright and cheerful. Also like what you have done to the box, such a nice was to store your inks xcx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chrissie. I am very pleased with the pompom wreath. The storage box was a good idea as I need to keep my constantly expanding craft stash in some kind of order!

May I ask where you sourced your sparkly ink pads please xcx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chrissie. Sorry to have taken a while to reply. The ink pads and re-inkers came as a set and are from Dreamees, who are based in the UK, in Mansfield. I bought them from Create and Craft, after seeing them being used on the show. The storage caddy also came from there. (I have just checked and the ink pads and re-inkers are available on the Create and Craft website - item 467430).
