November - the seasons turn

The temperatures have gone down a bit this week (although surprisingly, have gone up a bit this weekend) and the autumn colours are starting to glow.  However, there are still some plants bravely hanging on. Above is the 'old velvet' colours of the hydrangea flowers.
The standard cherry Kojo-no-mai is showing fiery shades...
...as are the blueberries.
Salvia Nachtvlinder is still in bloom, with its deep purple flowers.
Rose Kew Gardens is also still putting out the odd flower.
Fuchsia Thamar is the only fuchsia I have now - the others got rust and I got rid of them.
Liriope Muscari is such a reliable plant for me.  I really need to divide the poor thing and give it a bit more space.
Hydrangeas are still flowering at the bottom end of the garden.
I like the mix of the bright white flower against the earlier flowers which have turned green
The Magnolia is now losing its leaves - and that is a proper November sky.
There are still some autumn fruiting raspberries ( I ate this one straight after taking this photo).
Lysimachia Clethroides in the front, starting to go yellow, with the cherry behind.  I need to start on the pot insulation I think.  We have had one frost so far and there will certainly be more to come.

  2. Loving your autumnal colours. Our spring display is starting to fade now - though there are hints of summer glory.
Raspberries are my favourite fruit. I am not sure I would have waited long enough to take the photo before gobbling that one down...

    1. Thanks, EC. These raspberries are in a big tub but manage to provide some handfuls of fruit for us to enjoy. Given more space, I would certainly have more of them - I love their fruit too!

  3. Your place is still showing much beauty, Ellie. Ours are past their prime, for sure. I just started fall clean-up today. UGH... I am so late. Ah well, it will get done eventually... hopefully before the snow flies! ~Andrea xoxoxo

    1. Thanks, Andrea. There is certainly a slow decline towards winter, but there is still lots to enjoy. The jobs for Autumn are not that much fun, are they, but they will help to see the garden through to Spring.

  4. So glad you ate that raspberry Ellie, it would have been rude not to! Your hydrangeas and salvia are still looking amazing. Those Lidriope muscari really do look like little grapes/ berries don't they. Lovely looking things. Lulu x

    1. Thanks, Lulu. I do still have some plants providing flowers and other colourful interest, but it is gradually fading now. The garden has done well though, so I'm not complaining. I have been bulb planting and still have some more to plant, so that and insulating some pots are the jobs over the next couple of weeks...
